I used to have serious troubles sleeping, both with falling asleep and receiving good quality sleep. This caused a lot of problems for me. I rarely felt present and in the moment, experienced constant headaches and lethargy, and processed information more slowly and less clearly. Because of the effects it had on my body, my poor sleeping also caused me to enjoy social activities less. It definitely had an impact on my academics as well because I would be unable to sleep well before tests and would feel dazed while taking the tests. Once I decided to fix the problem, I noticed dramatic improvements. I started waking up at the same time every day in efforts to develop a consistent sleep schedule. I also minimized my phone usage before bed. These efforts paid off eventually and now I am more successful in school and feel so much more present, happy, and healthy. -Mia Taylor
